In summary,
This is a collection of habits of highly successful people.
(= Tools of Titans)
At the start of the new year,
if you're looking to develop new habits
but are unsure what to do, I recommend this book.
I started reading this book to see if there were any applicable aspects for my life.
[First Method]
My life is always a continuous cycle of checklists and execution.
I'm constantly focused on the 'future'.
Let's create moments to cultivate a sense of gratitude.
To avoid repetitive responses,
let's consider it within these four categories.
1. Long-time acquaintances who have truly helped me a lot,
or whom I hold in high regard.
2. Opportunities given to me today
Opportunities like calling my parents,
or going for an interview at my desired company.
It doesn't have to be anything special.
3. Wonderful things that happened yesterday
Things I experienced firsthand, witnessed, or discovered.
4. Simple things that are near me
or visible.
Fluffy clouds drifting outside the window,
the scratch of a pen, etc.
Anything that suddenly feels new is fine.
I resonated with the expression 'a continuous cycle of checklists and execution'.
I always write work logs and to-do lists.
These records are never revisited.
Simply because they are a list of actions I've completed.
There is no consideration for the present or past.
From now on, I intend to take all time periods into account.
[Second Method]
Practice generating 10 ideas every day.
Create a list of the craziest things you can possibly do.
People are more likely to appreciate your crazy ideas
than your serious and brilliant thoughts.
The number of great business ideas you can come up with
will likely be few in a year.
What matters is fun.
Rather than focusing on whether it will make money,
you should aim to generate as many stimulating ideas as possible.
Examples)
10 outdated ideas I can reinvent
10 ridiculous gadgets I can invent (like an AI toilet)
10 podcast or video ideas I can film
10 things I can do differently today
10 ways to save time
I sometimes read in books about continuously coming up with ideas.
It sounds good at first, but
it's one of the habits that gradually fades over time.
I've been using a monthly diary recently, so I'm taking advantage of it.
I'm filling the left-hand pages with absurd ideas.
[Third Method]
Promises I made to myself were always pushed aside and neglected,
and eventually faded away.
Just like promises made to others,
promises to oneself also
become highly effective when 'visualized' clearly and reminded.
Execution becomes much higher.
Give yourself a handwritten note.
My personal time is important!
I definitely promised myself to exercise, why am I not keeping it up!!
I will definitely go to the gym on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday this week!!
Review
The book contains a wide variety of habits and behaviors.
Every time I read it, I want to apply everything to my life, but
I think I've succeeded if I can consistently maintain even just one.
It's a great book to read at the beginning of the new year.
It's a book where you can peek into how others start their days
and the mindset they live by.
The concluding remarks were great.
"The best way to invest your limited time
is to spend it with the people you love."
"Life is too short to be busy."
Ultimately, what we need to cherish is small but precious time.
